Dear Room 202 families,
Upcoming events and other information:
- Homework. We sent homework home today, due next Friday. If students have trouble with homework, please send them to me to ask for help. If you feel that the student has tried to complete homework but can not, please just write a note on the homework and tell me what the problem is.
- Planners. Our planners came! Every day we reflect on what we have learned and we write notes in the planner so that families will know what is going on in school. I am asking that an adult sign the planner every night to show that they have discussed the day with their student.
- Website. Please see my website http://brownroom202.weebly.com/ (also linked to the Brown website) for details about our daily schedule and procedures.
- Immigration unit of inquiry.
- On October 2 students’ “Family Project” is due. Instructions and requirements for this project were sent home this week. The objective of this exercise is that each student begins to understand that someone in his or her family, at some point, made a major change that resulted in the student’s life in Denver!
- On October 9 we will conduct an Ellis Island simulation. Information about the simulation was sent home last week and volunteers are requested. If you can volunteer, please contact one of our room parents, Caitlin Dolegowski or Stephanie Martens.

- Library. We have Brown library checkout next Tuesday (and every other Tuesday thereafter). Students are allowed to check out four books at a time in fourth grade. They may take the library books home but they must replace the books if they are lost or not returned. Please help your student find and return books that belong to the Brown DPS library (and also books marked “Gormley” or “Room 202” – those are mine and are not supposed to go home at all). Thank you!
- Field Trip. We are going on a field trip to the State Capitol building and to the Governor’s Residence in Denver on October 16. This field trip connects to our fourth grade focus on Colorado’s economy, geology, government, and cultures.
